WHAT REALLY IS THE PERFECT TEMPERATURE?

Winter, summer, fall, and spring—the four seasons. Each one comes with varying weather, which means the temperature in your home must change. Like most people you probably have arguments about the thermostat with family members in your home. However, depending on the seasons and the activities in your home there IS a perfect temperature. Cogburn’s Heating and Air Conditioning can help you keep your air conditioning working to help keep you at your perfect temperature all year long. Do not settle for less than the best!

The Perfect Temperature for Spring and Summer

You may be excited that warm weather is finally approaching, but you still want to stay comfortable. Warm weather is amazing but too much warmth can leave you sticking to your clothes and furniture. So, what is the balance? Most people’s bodies are comfortable in the summer and spring when the temperature is set at about 75 degrees; this is especially a good temperature for us Texans where summers can be unbearably hot.  When you are sleeping or out for the day you can set the temperature a little higher since there will be no one occupying the home.

A/C On A Budget

Being on a budget means that you want to be comfortable but you do not want the attached bill that comes form running your air conditioner. The trick is to keep your house at an average temperature that keeps you comfortable, but that isn’t’ going to be so hot or cold that it skyrockets your bill. Try for around 68 degrees in a newer better insulated home. You can raise this slightly in winter or lower it in summer if you live in an older or less insulated home.

The Perfect Sleep Temperature

It is a fact that when you are awake you should be living in a different temperature than when you are asleep. This is mostly because of the different amounts of energy you are using during sleep versus your daily activities. The temperature that you sleep at directly correlates with how good of a nights rest you are getting. If it’s too hot or cold you can be restless or just not have decent sleep; which can reduce your energy levels the next day or lead to sleep deprivation. At Cogburn’s we suggest that for a good night’s sleep aim to set your thermostat at about 65 degrees. Below 54 and above 75 can greatly hurt your sleep patterns and cooler rooms have been shown to give people more sound sleep.

When setting your home’s temperature it is important that you have a working air conditioning unit. After all, the perfect temperature only exists if your HVAC is in working order.
